Attention:
Sept. 19, 2023
The Silver Creek Village WSC Board of Directors would like to update our community on a positive
development with the water system.
The recently drilled Well #7 was successful and is awaiting TCEQ approval. With approval, Well #7 will
become our primary water source, replacing Well #1. Presently, Well #7 is producing at a rate of 30 gpm.
As a reference, Well #1 and Well #6 produce at rates of 3.5 and 15 gpm, respectively. This positive
development means there will be no need to purchase bulk water in the near future, will enable us have
Well #1 as a back-up and allow Well #6 to return to “emergency use only”.
This in no way reduces the need to conserve water. Even with the recent rains,
we are still in an Extreme Drought situation. Well #1 is highly influenced by the lake level and this new
Well #7 will be also. The lake is presently 24.5 feet low.
We are still under STAGE 4 water restrictions.
No outside water use except by bucket or hose with a shut-off nozzle
Reduce the water flow when showering; only turn it halfway on.
When showering, put a bucket under the faucet as you wait for hot water and use for watering plants.
Run dish and clothes washers with full loads only.
Turn water off when brushing your teeth or shaving.
If you have any questions, please contact the Board at [email protected] .
Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Attention:
The Silver Creek Village WSC Board of Directors would like to update our community on the continuing extreme water shortage. The daily capacity of our main water source, Well 1, continues to hold relatively steady, averaging about 6300 gal/day.
However, our June daily usage is averaging about 9200 gal/day. About 46% more than well capacity.
We have been purchasing bulk water and supplementing Well 6 to make up the deficit. The Board anticipated a shortfall for the summer months and set aside funds. However, this drastic increase has far outstripped projections. We will continue to purchase bulk water and, unfortunately, increase the use of Well 6. Purchases of bulk water now are being redirected from funds set aside for future maintenance and repairs. Maintenance items like new media for filtering water ($25K). Repair items like a new pump for the well ($5K) and replacement of the main pump ($50K). These funds will be needed to cover costs that will occur in the future.
The Board is discussing how best to replenish these funds. In general, after the total costs for bulk water is determined, there will be an assessment for water usage. It is our intention to make this as equitable as possible, with customers whose usage dramatically increased bearing most of the costs.
Meanwhile, the best way to minimize your individual costs as part of the future assessment, is to continue conserving water.
Reduce the water flow when showering; only turn it halfway on.
When showering, put a bucket under the faucet as you wait for hot water and use for watering plants.
Run dish and clothes washers with full loads only.
Turn water off when brushing your teeth or shaving.
If you have any questions, please contact the Board at [email protected] or 512 756-2450.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Attention:
The Silver Creek Village WSC Board of Directors would like to update the community about the ongoing water situation. The Board would like to THANK YOU for your cooperation in reducing the daily water usage. The immediate situation has been stabilized. The storage tank is now a little less than ½ full. Daily well capacity has been exceeding daily usage by about 1300 gal/day on average.
In light of the improved situation, the Board is lifting the STAGE 5 EMERGENCY RATIONING. However, we still are in STAGE 4.
Outside water usage by hand held hose or container only.
Limit laundry to full loads.
Reduce water flow when using inside faucets.
However, if daily usage exceeds daily supply for 3 consecutive days, STAGE 5 EMERGENCY RATIONING will be reinstated.
The need to make the EMERGENCY designation was a combination of two main occurrences. The first of these is fairly routine. Spring Break brings an increase in people visiting our community. Water usage increases to meet the demand. Usually, the usage drops when Spring Break ends and we replenish our water storage over the following weeks. However, this time the usage was higher than normal and it
didn’t drop to our normal range. It continued to be high.
Simultaneously with Spring Break, there was a leak in one of the homes. This leak alone consumed about 40% of the available water in storage. The leak was identified and repaired. In order to rapidly resupply our storage and stabilize the system, the Board purchased 10,000 gal of bulk water and authorized the use of water from well 6. It was our desire to minimize the use of water from well 6. Therefore, only 4000 gal was used. The concentration of water from well 6 never exceeded 20% of the total amount in storage. Concentration is now less than 7%.
In the short term, the Board is investigating ways to increase the daily capacity of well 1.
For the long term, we are in the process of obtaining funding for a Surface Water Treatment system. This upgrade will provide clean, abundant drinking water for our community for years to come.
Thank you again for your cooperation.

Attention: Silver Creek Village Water Customers
Due to the continued surge in daily water consumption, the Silver Creek Village WSC Board of Directors is compelled to issue STAGE 5 EMERGENCY WATER RATIONING as of Monday, 3/27/23. This action will
continue until further notice.
Over the last 2 weeks daily water usage has exceeded our well capacity by 10-40%. Remaining water in storage is approximately 1-1.5 days of usage.
Due to this situation, the Board has authorized the EMERGENCY USE ONLY source, Well #6, to be brought back online. This well produces sub-standard water. It has high concentrations of both salt and iron. This water is to be blended with existing water capacity to minimize its effect on water quality.
To reduce your consumption:
NO OUTSIDE WATER USAGE. NO EXCEPTIONS. USAGE WILL DAMAGE PLANTS AND GRASS.
LIMIT use of indoor appliances (washer, dishwasher, water dispenser). Salty water will reduce the life of these appliances.
REDUCE water use for showering. Turn water off while soaping, turn on for rinsing.
REDUCING daily consumption will be beneficial to alleviating the immediate situation, while the Board investigates alternative sources for water capacity.
Thank you for your cooperation.

ATTENTION! SILVER CREEK VILLAGE WATER CUSTOMERS
Water usage has been unusually high the past three weeks and the well cannot pump enough water to keep up the supply.
The storage tank holds 65 000 gallons and we are down to our last 5,000 gallons. Conserve water!!
If we do not cut back on our usage, we will run the well dry!
This is not a hypothetical situation!
We normally use more than 5,000 gallons each day
CONSERVE OR RUN OUT!

Alert from Silver Creek Village WSC: Notice of Violation Maximum Contaminant
Level Violation MCL, Single Sample / Nitrate
NOTICE OF VIOLATION Maximum Contaminant Level Violation
MCL, SINGLE SAMPLE / NITRATE
Dear Water Customer,
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) March 10, 2023 notified the Silver Creek Village WSC TX0270021 public water system that the drinking water being supplied to customers had exceeded the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for nitrate.
The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has established the MCL for nitrate to be 10 milligrams per liter (mg/L) based on a single sample, and has determined that it is a health concern at levels above the MCL. Analysis of drinking water in your community for nitrate indicates a compliance value in quarter 1 of 2023 of 12 mg/L for EP001.
Infants below the age of six months who drink water containing nitrate in excess of the MCL could become seriously ill and, if untreated, may die. Symptoms include shortness of breath and blue baby syndrome. If your child is under the age of six months, the child must be given an alternative water supply for any consumption. Boiling the affected water is not an effective treatment for nitrate removal
.
Most consumers do not need to use an alternative water supply. However, if you have health concerns, you may want to talk to your doctor to get more information about how this may affect you. At this time, the health effects to fetuses of pregnant women are unclear. If you are pregnant, you may also choose to use an alternative source of water for drinking and cooking purposes.
We are taking the following actions to address this issue: Working with Engineers,
Designing and obtaining Permits & approval from LCRA and TCEQ to install a Surface Water Treatment plant to eliminate the Nitrates in your water.
Please share this information with all people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact Nelson Brock 512-715

NO OUTDOOR WATERING!
Please check that there is no leakage at your property. To do this, make sure you have no water using appliances on and check your meter at the front of your property. If it continues to move, you have a leak. This costs you every month for wasted water you don't use. Aso, if you live next to a home that is a vacation home, please check your neighbor's home to make sure they don't have a leak that could ruin their property.
Thank you. SCVWSC Board
